At their season premiere, Auburn Symphony will be welcoming local musician and Concertmaster Emilie Choi as the guest artist. A fully professional orchestra, Auburn Symphony is celebrating its 30th season by bringing unforgettable stories and extraordinary artists to the Auburn Community.

Choi has served as Concertmaster of Auburn Symphony since 2019, and will be a returning featured artist for the October 11th performance of Max Richter’s Eternal Seasons. “The Four Seasons is a mix of solo parts that build on each other and the ideas presented through the different sections of the orchestra,” said Choi. The season premiere also features Mozart’s Jupiter symphony along with Richter’s modern reimagining of Vivaldi’s beloved work.

Choi, a lifetime Seattlite and new mom, said “I help lead the orchestra, act as facilitator, manage the seating and have an overarching role with the strings of choosing our bowings.” As Concertmaster at Auburn Symphony and Assistant Concertmaster of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Choi is one of many musicians that perform with both organizations. She regularly performs for Seattle Symphony, weddings and candlelight concerts. When asked how she balances it all, she replied “It really is all about preparation and knowing how much prep time to schedule for each performance because there is likely something new each weekend.

Growing up in a musical family, Choi has been playing violin since age 5. She earned two degrees at University of Washington before completing her MM and Baroque Certificate from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Speaking of her time at UW, Choi says “The time I spent there helped me know I wanted to pursue a career in music.”

Since 1996, Auburn Symphony has been bringing classical music to the South King County region. Mainstage performances can be seen at Auburn Performing Arts Center and Federal Way Performing Arts and Events Center. More intimate chamber music concerts are hosted in the Auburn community at venues such as Postmark Center for the Arts and San Mateo Episcopal Church.
